Digital Graffiti at Alys Beach 2008
CALL FOR PROJECTED ART ENTRIES
For one spectacular evening, Alys Beach is allowing its pristine white walls to be marked up, albeit temporarily, by projected art.
Submit innovative and visually compelling examples of
- generative art
- short experimental films
- videos, animations
- VJ sets
- still imagery
- interactive concepts
for projection onto the town walls of Alys Beach on Saturday August 30th. When considering work for the event, think BIG, SIMPLE, and BRIEF in length (1 to 5 min.). Because Alys Beach is one of the most progressive towns in the world with regard to environmental sustainability initiatives, special consideration will be given to work that addresses a connection to the environment. THERE IS NO ENTRY FEE FOR THIS YEAR'S FESTIVAL; deadline for all submissions is July 11th, 2008.
PRIZES AWARDED
A $2,500 grand prize will be awarded to the "Best of Show" entry, as judged by a panel of art and industry experts. Prizes in other categories will also be awarded, including:
ARTISTS RETAIN 100% OWNERSHIP OF THEIR WORKS, although please note that by submitting an entry, you agree to allow Alys Beach the right to use photographic reproductions of your artwork for promotional purposes, both in print and online. A small number of stipends will be made available to winning artists (up to a $1,000) to attend and participate in this year's festival.
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
- Submissions should be easily viewable in a standard web browser, and launch with common plugins like Flash or QuickTime. You may submit more than one artwork; each artwork requires it's own entry information.
- Include the following information with your submission:
- Project Title and year produced
- Short description of project(200-300 words) and brief artist statement
- List images, videos and their URLs
- An artist cv/resume with physical address, telephone number and email
- Indicate whether you (artist or group) will attend the festival on August 30, 2008. Attendance is NOT required for eligibility.
